Welcoming Jared Luxenberg
Welcoming Jared Luxenberg, the newest addition to our software engineering team.
Why did you decide to join Command AI?
For one, the product: Command AI's tools respect the user in a way that a lot of popular apps today do not. It augments users’ abilities across every type of industry and software. The strength of the team at Command AI's was also a major factor for me.
What have you enjoyed the most so far about working at Command AI?
As an engineer, I enjoy how the team strikes the right balance between quickly shipping important, user-facing features and creating a high-quality technical architecture and codebase.
What have you found most surprising about working at Command AI?
For such a young company, the codebase is impressively mature. There’s also been a lot of investment in automated QA and scalable manual testing.
What’s your favorite part of Command AI's culture?
The environment is very collaborative, and everyone builds on each other’s ideas with a “yes and” attitude. It’s been easy to get started and feel like I’m contributing something useful. And as a parent, I’ve found the work-life balance is better than other venture-backed startups where I’ve worked.
What are some hobbies you enjoy outside work?
Recently, I’ve gotten into doing VR racing; it’s a great hobby I can do at home during the covid lockdowns. Also, I used to be a skydiver and have gone over 200 times.
What’s a typical weekend look like for you?
Mostly hanging out with my one-year-old. We do the grocery shopping on Saturdays then go for a hike or walk on Sundays.
What’s the best vacation you’ve been on?
Probably backpacking the “O” Circuit in Torres del Paine over 10 days.
If you were stuck on an island what three things would you bring?
- An MP3 player with ambient drone music to help with sleeping plus some post-rock like Explosions in the Sky
- A Vernor Vinge book
- An acoustic guitar so I can learn to play
